Ahmed Ali plays his first match for the Somali team

The Somali national team plays against Villa SC in the Nakivubo stadium.

 

Yesterday Ahmed Ali played his first match for the Somali national team. De 22 year old player, who's currently playing with Jodan Boys in the Dutch Topklasse, played a friendly match against the Uganda Villa SC. The Ocean Stars, as the Somali nationals are often called, beat Villa SC with 2-1. Villa SC is the current number 1 in the Ugandan Super League. Villa SC won the national title sixteen times. The last year the won the title was in 2004.

Ahmed Ali started from the beginning with shirt number 8 in the game that was played in Nakivubo stadium in Kampala. The leader of the Somali delegation praised Ahmed for his contibution to the team. 'Ahmed has a good future in football. Somalia is happy about the job he has done in the past and we see that he is making good progress.'
Also the chairman of the of the CECAFA committee, also secretary general of the Somali Football Federation, Abdi Qani Said Arab said he had confidence in Ahmed's performance.

This weekend the Somali team plays his first match in the group stage of the CECAFA Tusker Cup 2012. The will compete against Burundi. This match will start at 14:00 (Dutch local time) an can be viewed on a live stream through the following link:
